What a t-shirt fulfillment company will do is, print your design and ship your item directly to your customer. You can start off by selling shirts for free using a free website builder, such as Wix or Weebly to name a couple. You can start a Free facebook business page to share your designs or try to sell them to family and friends directly on Facebook. You can ask your Facebook friends to share your mockups and tag you and/or your business.
Now maybe, you are a graphic design artist and you thought about buying your own equipment. Unless you absolutely love printing yourself it is best to leave it to the professionals until you grow your sales. You can open up a free Paypal account and link it to your bank account. You can even request a PayPal debit card. Paypal also has a device that you hook into the aux port on your phone that you can take credit card payments on the go. This is an interesting concept. I do think that this can be a good start if you want to start your own business, but you have to keep in mind of the money you will lose for the third party printing and shipping. There is nothing clear at the percentage so I would be mindful before taking action.
A tee shirt company would be a great side business. I actually know someone who makes tee shirts! They're so unique!

I'd like to start a tshirt company featuring horse and equestrian art designs. I had some shirts with Chuck DeHaan horse art many years ago. The companies I ordered them from shut down. I would like to start my own shop with those designs. I assume I simply contact the artist to obtain a license to print their art on tshirts to sell? If these companies were able to do it, I am sure I can too.

I'm actually really serious about doing this. My friend and I(well mostly him) puts on basketball tournaments almost weekly. And I have been to many that have someone there selling t-shirts. They have their press there and even some bring vinyl printers to do more custom stuff, but hey make a killing off of selling them.
