American Apparel goes out of business

How does this happen? One of USA's apparel manufacturing companies goes bankrupt and then gets purchased by Canada-based company Gildan activewear. 

American Apparel was founded in 1989 and it was on of only USA Clothing manufacture companies. They prided themselves as a sweatshop-free company. Along with being "Made in America". They manufactured clothing right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. All of its remaining 110 stores are set to close by April.

Unfortunately, Gildan Activewear has made it clear, they have no intention of keeping any stores or it's downtown Los Angeles plant open. It was about liquidation. 

For us, it is a sad day because quality wise they have been one of the best quality t-shirts that we have printed on. Lots of different colors to choose from and no loose strings to be found. Our favorite has been the 2001 model. Now we will look to see what other quality Made in America T-shirt companies we can find.
